Christmas and a Very "Cool" Allie

Hello World!

To call our practice and home life "busy" would be an understatement! I turned around a few days ago and realized, "It's March!" Whew...

Here are a few snapshots from the last several months in our life...

I hope you are all enjoying 2010!

My Family, Christmas Day... Yes, that's "Our Girl" with her eyes crossed for the picture! Very intentionally crossed, I might add :)

A "Very Cool" Allie

Haylee and I are heading to the Office Christmas party here while Allie prepares to bake with her grandparents. Please note my "bow tie"... that was my way of bringing "cheer" to the Party - don't you love it!? Everyone had a great laugh...

Days Gone By...

Hello Friends and Family!

This past weekend I was looking through photos on a camera at our dental practice. Among the hundreds of teeth related photos, I found a few shots of our little daughter. These date back a few years to what we now lovingly call "the early days" of the office. We've been serving Frisco for almost 2 years now and our daughter is literally "growing up" in our dental practice. It's beautiful! We hope you enjoy these few pictures just as much as we enjoyed remembering each moment...

Allie - Headed to "Pre-School" and rummaging through the items ready to be hung in the new office.

Allie - Hanging out in her stroller in a very un-finished dental office... she was so great about waiting patiently for us while we dealt with the construction project, visited with contractors, etc.

Allie is waiting patiently for a meal after a long day of Daddy delivering great Dentistry!

Allie's 1st Baseball Game - This evening out was a reward for several straight, long days at the office. Go Frisco Rough Riders!

This is one of my favorites because it is exactly how she looks most of the time in the office. Sitting at Dad's desk, eating a snack and coloring (or playing a computer game). This is one of those photos that prompts me to think, "You know, these days seem hard sometimes but the memories of having her with us will prove to be priceless." :)

This is one of my most treasured photos. We had only been open a few months and Allie was with us on a Saturday. Nap time came and Haylee just couldn't leave to take her home for a nap so we decided to try letting her nap in the kitchen - it worked and we were so proud of her! :)

Our family looks forward to serving Frisco for many, many more years!

Family

My wife loves to take pictures and she follows Allie and I around with her massive zoom lens! Below are some recent snapshots of our family - we feel so blessed to have one another! (To be fair, I captured the one of her and Allie.)

Allie Playing at a Local Park - She was able to cross the monkey bars on her own for the first time which was a huge accomplishment!

Thanksgiving Boxes

Hello Patients!

Our practice is working to build an even stronger relationship with our community. In order to achieve this goal, we have decided to partner with Frisco Family Services Center to give back to those in need. What better time to start this initiative than during the holiday season?

Our first official project with Frisco Family Services is to join in as a Thanksgiving Meal Box sponsor. The Thanksgiving Meal Box program is designed to provide families in need with their entire Thanksgiving Day meal (and breakfast that day, too!). Sponsors are provided a full list of items that must be included in each “meal box.”

As an office, we have already signed up to provide 5 full boxes (which will help 5 families). However, we would like to extend this invitation to you, our patients, so that you may help with this effort if you would like to do so. We hope that with your help our office will be able to donate even more boxes and reach out to even more families.

If you are interested in helping us with this project, the list of needed items is pictured above and it may also found on our Facebook page (if you haven’t already, please become a fan of Jerit Davis, DDS on Facebook). We will be accepting the items in our office if you wish to donate something on the list! You can also contact Frisco Family Services Center - http://www.friscocenter.org/ - to learn more information on ways you can help!

We would like to thank everyone for your support and we look forward to sponsoring many more community events in the future!

When I grow up...

You know I remember always hearing and saying the phrase: "when I grow up ..." Generally, this phrase was followed by some profound statement of future ambition or a declaration of independence.
Haylee and I have been attending Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano for the past several months and recently our daughter has begun taking some classes on Wednesday evenings. There is a nice area there at the church where we sit for a few hours and wait for Allie's classes to finish. These few hours give us some much needed couple time. It is always refreshing to disconnect from 'life' and talk about 'life' if that makes any sense... Anyway tonight was one of those nights where we just had the opportunity to talk about where we are,  have been, and possibly going... when we "grow up."

So funny how we are always forward looking, always planning ahead, and doing everything to make the most out of this precious gift we call life. I always do my best to remember to enjoy the now while being excited about the future. So many times I've struggled even as a parent with wanting my darling child to move on to the next stage that I have forgotten to enjoy the blessed moment we were in today.

In the past, Allie has been a great sleeper! However, recently, she has decided that going to bed without any hesitation or battle of the wills is a thing of the past! Suddenly, she's not sleeping well and occasionally gets up in the night to announce to her sleeping parents that "my room smells like a chocolate shake" or "I dreamed mommy just got flushed down the toilet - is she okay?"   I finally asked Allie last night: "Allie, Daddy really loves you but you have got to stop waking me up 3 times per night." She says "Okay, Dad", but proceeds to enter our room many times in the night despite my request.  The next morning I asked her about it and she says "I'm sorry Dad, I was trying to be quiet and not wake you up like you asked but I needed to tell mommy something..." Needless to say, I gave up trying to coach her through this time and decided I better find a way to enjoy it because as one of my favorite artist puts it, "It Won't Be Like This for Long." I guess if she is still doing this by age 13 we might have a problem. I'll keep you posted.

By the way, our darling girl has decided that when she grows up, she wants to "BE a Children's Hospital." We'll see....

Shark Crocs, Old Homesites & Motorcyle Rides!

During my most recent trip to Arkansas I took an opportunity to stop by the site of where my childhood home used to sit.  Today, only the concrete slab remains but the old site made for a wonderful picture spot for Allie.

We also enjoyed a visit with Papa Gene who always offers Allie a ride on what used to be my motorcycle.  I actually got that bike when I was only 2 years older than Allie - unbelievable it still runs.  What's so fun about grandparents is that they are never to be outdone by one another! Since my Dad offered the ride on the motorcycle, my Mom took Allie out for a shopping trip - we came back to Texas with "Shark Crocs."

Oh the Memories!
